Prejudice

Sue Vincent's Daily Echo

dawm 008

No one would want me

Older, black and going grey

Wouldn’t stand a chance

*

If I were homeless

Condemned to long loneliness

Behind shelter bars

*

Judged unlovable

By fear and superstition

Because I am black

*

I would wait longer

For the touch of love unless…

The needle took me

*

Yet it is written

See -β€œI am black but comely”

With a golden heart

*

Forget appearance

Look with the eyes of the heart

Beyond prejudice
